Background
The Center for Animal Rescue and Education is an all volunteer organization dedicated to ending the needless suffering and abandonment of animals in the Massachusetts South Coast region. The Mission of C.A.R.E. is to reduce the incidence of homelessness, neglect and abuse of animals through sheltering, spay/neuter, adoption and community outreach and awareness. C.A.R.E. was formed by concerned community members to provide emergency sheltering, spay/neuter assistance, education and referral resources. C.A.R.E. relies solely on contributions from the community and the efforts of volunteers.
Volunteering Opportunities
Care has many wonderful and caring volunteers, however Animal rescue and Education is a full time job. CARE can always use your assistance whether it is volunteering your time and energy or a monetary contribution; we always appreciate someone elses love of animals.
Any dedicated volunteer is welcome! Specific volunteer duties include:
changing food and water, scooping litter boxes, changing bedding, sweeping, giving medication, keeping the shelter clean and safe for animals and humans, advertising, fundraising, and (most importantly) playing and socializing the animals to prepare them for adoption!
*** Volunteers with specialties, such as advertising, secretarial skills, landscaping, etc, are greatly needed and appreciated!

Testimonials
"With strength in numbers our C.A.R.E. network can and will make a difference. I always look forward to my shifts at the shelter, even though its’ cleaning and scooping litter boxes or administering meds to a sick cat, it lifts my spirit and always makes me feel better and lightens my mood.
C.A.R.E. is the best thing I have ever been involved with, without a doubt”….Helen Lesley Underwood “Through my love of animals, I decided to volunteer for C.A.R.E. I must say first and foremost that thank goodness C.A.R.E. is a no-kill shelter, by helping these animals I have found it a very healing way to give back. In turn I have received the gift of unconditional love from these animals and am proud to know that I am making a difference in their lives”..Jan Gardner “ I have always hated it when someone would say to me “you can’t save the world” but what they don’t understand is yes I can, I may not change the world by helping one animal, but I will change the world for that one animal. I say one animal at time, we can and we must. For me animal welfare is a deep –rooted passion, one I simply can’t deny. Knowing that I have helped these animals in some small way makes all the difference in the world for me.”..Ruthi Marshman Additions to SCS Website:
